After an arrest, it is common to have all types of emotions such as: fear of the unknown; guilt; shame; anger; depression; helplessness; and/or, anxiety. Learning information about the system and your situation can help you empower yourself to avoid making a bad situation worse. It is likely you made some poor choices which ultimately caused your current situation. It is very important that you gain insight into those choices and self-correct to move forward and to reduce the negative impact of your arrest on your future. This course will discuss the processes of the criminal justice system and explain possible outcomes to your situation. You will also be introduced to opportunities to enter classes, supportive resources, and/or programs which can assist you with learning from this experience and avoiding a pattern of involvement with the criminal justice system. This pre-trial period is a good time to document your efforts and demonstrate that you are not the label of your offense. TCSA will assist you with establishing a plan of action to document your efforts for the Courts. This program is designed for those considered to be “first time offenders” but is also appropriate for any person seeking clarity for a pending offense. Note: this program does not provide legal advice and it is recommended that you seek legal counsel in addition to this course as your right. Your 5th amendment right will be honored throughout your time with TCSA.
